For readers who hunger for adventure yet long for meaning, these pages beckon: come and see what happens when you walk out your faith – trusting God, who is steadfast in his love, mercy and faithfulness.
I have learned a lot about human nature – that we have far more in common than different.
And, I have seen that most of this world is not built as much by the legendary and historical figures we know, as it is by the men, women and children living out their lives with the talents and opportunities that come their way.
One of the books I read in 1998, while I was working in Eastern Europe and Africa, was The Call by Os Guiness. He wrote about the individual’s focus on walking out our faith. Instead of seeking the admiration and affirmation of others (which we all do at times!), Os wrote: “A life lived listening to the decisive call of God is a live lived before one audience that trumps all others – the Audience of One”. This is my aspiration. God’s call on my life in January 1976, to declare His glory among the nations and use my vocation to do so, has in ways I could not have imagined radically changed my trajectory.
Keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus has helped my family and I to walk through some very deep valleys, conflicts in business and ministry, and two serious heart attacks of my own. The path of my sojourn Home has never been easy. But I pray, with my eyes fixed on Jesus, one which I pray fulfills God’s calling.
